(Warner Bros. Home Entertainment provided me with a free copy of the blu-ray I reviewed in this blog post. The opinions I share are my own.)
When it comes to superhero TV shows, it’s fair to say that DOOM PATROL is a unique experience. The characters in this series are flawed and not your normal good guys that you’d expect to see, which was actually very fun to watch. Before watching this series, I was not familiar with DOOM PATROL, but now that I’m acquainted, I find it to be one of the best DC shows I’ve seen and I like them all.
Because we are dealing with strange superheroes, we are dealing with odd investigations and scenarios. The writers of this series understand the theme and generate ideas that make the shows very amusing at times and then shifts over to dramatic and action-packed. There are some surprises here and there along with some welcomed mystery.
Like the other DC Universe shows THE FLASH and ARROW, the show is shot very well and the acting is very good. With a cast consisting of Brendan Fraser as Cliff Steele, Diane Guerrero as Crazy Jane and Timothy Dalton as Chief, there comes a seriousness and believability with the strange experience. What makes this show so much different than the others is the theme and characters. They are unlikely heroes but they have a cause after their leader disappeared and the show is off and running.
I highly recommend DOOM PATROL: THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON.
