Film Movement (www.filmmovement.com), the New York-based film distribution company, announces the premiere of NOT ANOTHER HAPPY ENDING, starring Karen Gillan (Doctor Who, Guardians of the Galaxy), on cable VOD August 8. Following a successful nationwide theaterical run, FOR A WOMAN, the latest from acclaimed director Diane Kurys, also comes to cable and digital On Demand platforms August 15.
A stylish romantic comedy from the UK, NOT ANOTHER HAPPY ENDING reunites Karen Gillan with filmmaker Josh McKay (Crush, We’ll Take Manhattan) and an ensemble cast including Henry Ian Cusick (Lost) and French heartthrob Stanley Weber. When debut author Jane Lockhart (Gillan) tries to follow her first success and finds herself stuck with writer’s block brought on by happiness, her publisher concocts a plan to make her miserable – and hopefully get her back to work.
NOT ANOTHER HAPPY ENDING will enjoy a cable VOD release on all major providers (Comcast, Time Warner, Verizon, etc.), followed by a DVD and digital VOD release in the United States in January 2015.
Additionally, Film Movement premieres the latest release from Diane Kurys (Academy Award®-nominated Entre Nous), FOR A WOMAN. Starring Sylvie Testud (La Vie En Rose), Benoît Magimel (The Piano Teacher) and Mélanie Thierry (The Zero Theorem), the film follows a woman who discovers secrets after the death of her mother that may change everything she thought she knew about her family.
FOR A WOMAN, a film RogertEbert.com proclaimed to have “sweet humor and sharp emotional truth,” will be available beginning August 15 at all cable and digital VOD outlets, including iTunes, Amazon Instant, Google Play, Vudu and more. The World War II drama will be available on DVD in October.
Film Movement’s holdover on demand programming includes one of the best-reviewed indie films of the year, Anthony Chen’s assured debut ILO ILO. Winner of the 2013 Cannes Film Festival Camera d’Or, the film continues a strong theatrical run in select cities and is available to millions of households on VOD. LES APACHES, I AM YOURS and CANNIBAL continue their on demand runs, as well.
Not Another Happy Ending was very nicely directed by a Scottish director called John MacKay who also made We’ll Take Manhattan with Miss Gillan.Pleased it’s being made more easily available for an American audience since it was her first leading role after she left Doctor Who.Jane Lockhart went to Disneyland this year apparently.
