Dillian Whyte, 25-1, 18 KO’s, had another tough fight with an old foe in Derek Chisora, 29-9, 21 KO’s, scoring a spectacular eleventh round knockout via a left hook. The punch knocked him cold. There was no count necessary as the trainer and doctors ran into the ring to tend to the fallen fighter.
In the first round, Whyte landed a right hand that would stumble Chisora, but he let him off the hook. Whyte controlled the second, taking the first two rounds rather cleanly, but the fight would shift and Chisora would sweep the next four rounds with his activity and his great body work. The fight would swing back and Whyte’s boxing ability was the difference. The referee would take two points off of Chisora as well, one for a low blow and one for an elbow, but all of it made no difference in the end.
Chisora was ahead on two of the cards going into that 11th round but he had nothing left and was visibly exhausted. Whyte was the fresher fighter and he turned up his activity and forced an exchange that left Chisora on his back.
Whyte can look forward to a rematch with Anthony Joshua, the only man that holds a victory over him, or Deontay Wilder.
