Actress Devin Sidell voices a chilling tale of conspiracy, occult, and dread, starring in Shudder’s new original horror-thriller podcast, VIDEO PALACE. The 10-episode scripted podcast is the first for Shudder, a subscription video on demand service, which launches the series today to members and is available in weekly installments to non-members on iTunes and other platforms.

VIDEO PALACE follows video collector Mark Cambria and his girlfriend Tamra (Sidell). After Mark watches a mysterious VHS tape, he begins talking in his sleep in a language that doesn’t exist. Mark and Tamra set out to investigate the tape’s origin and find themselves caught up in a web of conspiracy, occult, and dread surrounding a legendary video store with a sinister purpose beyond imagining.

The project was created by Nick Braccia and The Blair Witch Project producer Michael Monello, co-written/directed by Ben Rock (“20 Seconds to Live”, Alien Raiders), and co-written by Bob DeRosa (Killers, White Collar); and also stars horror veterans Chase Williamson (John Dies at the End, Sequence Break, Siren), Larry Cedar (Deadwood), and Leon Russom (Prison Break, A Quiet Place).

Sidell is excited to lend her voice to this frightening tale, adding “This project was a great actor’s workout. When you work on films, you might shoot around 5 pages a day. We recorded about 5 pages an hour. We had to be at the top of our acting game at every moment, and I loved it.”

Sidell is no stranger to the horror genre, and fans will recognize her as ‘Georgina Victor’ in an unforgettable scene in Rob Zombie’s killer clown film 31, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. Earlier this year, she gained attention for her memorable comedy skills on Brooklyn Nine-Nine alongside Andy Samburg and a singing criminal lineup. Throughout this year, she has also appeared on Crazy Ex Girlfriend and Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Previously, this Los Angeles native who graduated from Princeton University has appeared on Ray Donovan, Grandfathered, The Middle, The O.C., Parks and Recreation, Anger Management, and Numb3rs among other shows. On stage, Sidell shined in award-winning shows at the Kirk Douglas Theatre as well as on The Broad Stage opposite Josh Gad and Bryce Dallas Howard. She won an L.A. Weekly Award for her performance in “Land of the Tigers” at Sacred Fools Theatre and was nominated for both LADCC and Ovation Awards for her performance in “The Behavior of Broadus,” co-produced by Center Theatre Group.

On a personal level, Sidell has been grabbing attention as a carrier of the BRCA-1 gene mutation with a family history of ovarian and breast cancers. In 2017, Sidell decided to undergo both a preventative double mastectomy and a preventative hysterectomy/ oophorectomy, proudly earning her the label of “previvor.” Looking to share her story with the world, Sidell is currently working with Steven Sears, writer of the Slamdance Audience Award winning horror-comedy Dave Made a Maze, to create a dark comedy feature about her experience.

Devin Sidell is represented by Mimi Mayer of Angel City Talent and Entertainment Lab.
