On February 8th, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment will release DC’s STARGIRL: THE COMPLETE SECOND SEASON on Blu-ray and DVD. The release features all 13 episodes and some cool bonus material, including a gag real.
One of the best things, as always, with these releases is the presentation. It looks great on Blu-ray and has a cinematic look and crispness to it. Adding to the presentation, the story-telling in this series is quite good and interesting with focus placed on episodes bleeding into each other and everything making sense as you go along. This can certainly qualify as a binge-worthy series and if you appreciate cinematography, you’ll enjoy it more.
STARGIRL leans to a focus on character rather than a straight out action series. This was a really pleasant fact as I watched the show, expecting a superhero experience. The writing was there and the characters were well defined and interesting. Brec Bassinger, playing a high school sophomore leads a group of young heroes to take on a deadly group, Eclipso. Bassinger is really good in this role and her stepfather, played by Luke Wilson, is another great addition. You can’t lose with Wilson.
I highly recommend this release. It’s quite surprising and clever. I really enjoyed it.
