(Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has provided me with a free copy of the Blu-ray I reviewed in this blog post. The opinions I share are my own.)
On September 29th, DC’S STARGIRL : THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON will be released on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, featuring all 13 episodes from the season.
Courtney Whitmore, a 15-year-old girl that has become the hero “Stargirl” is an interesting addition to the DC Universe. Along with her stepfather, Pat Dugan, played by Luke Wilson, is a mechanic with the inherent need to help people and his continued interaction with his stepdaughter is part of the charm of this show. Wilson is always outstanding and he meshes well with his younger counterpart in the show.
Brec Bassinger is outstanding in the lead role, mixing innocence and toughness into the complex character that is growing up but also taking on the world. The show gets better with every episode and when Stargirl discovers that there’s more to her stepdad than meets the eye, the relationship they develop is very intriguing and puts the show into another gear.
There are numerous villains that Stargirl encounters with some better than other, but all interesting and the action sequences are very exciting. This is one of DC’s better shows. I highly recommend it!
