Undefeated former two-time WBC Super Middleweight Champion David “La Bandera Roja’’ Benavidez welcomed a visit from his longtime trainer, Sampson Lewkowicz, to his Seattle training camp today as he finalizes preparations for a showdown against former IBF Super Middleweight Champion Caleb “Sweethands” Plant on Saturday, March 25 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Benavidez said Lewkowicz was a welcome sight amid the intense work he is putting in for the high-stakes,12-round showdown for the WBC Interim World Super Middleweight championship.

“I’m so happy my promoter came to visit me in camp,” said the 26-year-old budding superstar, who was dubbed “The Mexican Mike Tyson” by Iron Mike himself earlier this week. “Things are going so positively. I’m sparring and I feel so good. It means a lot that he took his time out to come and see me like this.”

Lewkowicz, who has been with Benavidez since nearly the beginning of his impressive career, say he likes what he saw from his young charge.

“La Bandera Roja has a look in his eyes like I’ve never seen before,” said Lewkowicz. “He is coming to not just beat Caleb Plant, but to destroy him.”
