I’m so happy to see Mike Tyson on PPV again. He walks out with the new TNT title in hand. Lance Archer storms out, dragging somebody from backstage to destroy. Archer is wearing a new mask. It’s really cool looking, but he took it off quickly so he could choke slam the poor soul he brought from the back. Tyson laughed at the spectacle.
AEW did such a great job building up this match. It is easily one of the biggest attractions of the night. Adding Mike Tyson was just icing on the cake.
Oh shit! Lance Archer landed the blackout in the first five seconds of the match! He rolled out of the ring and saved himself, but that was really shocking. Archer is so menacing. He is easily one of the best big men in the business. Archer is so menacing and Jake Roberts keeps sneaking around, always a factor.
The action spills to the outside with Cody being launched from the stands to the concrete ringside floor. Archer is dominating the match. Cody cannot seem to have any impact on the bigger foe. Archer did the rope walk to the moonsault, getting a near fall.
As Archer beats Cody down, Roberts rejoices. He is as evil and awesome as ever. Archer ripped off the turnbuckle padding but it backfired. Cody finally has a chance and starts putting on the punishment.
Unbelievable! Archer press slams Cody, tossing him from inside the ring to the ringside floor. He is a destroyer. Arn Anderson is concerned, visibly, while Jake calls the women in the ringside area “bitches.” Roberts has a history mistreating women back to the WWF days and Miss Elizabeth. What an evil man.
Every time that Cody gets any momentum, it’s quickly extinguished by the Murder Hawk. Cody finally gets a submission on Archer, prompting Jake to nearly interfere. Cody DDT’s Archer in front of Roberts, infuriating the snake. Archer would then do the spinebuster, Arn’s finisher.
Cody lands a diamond cutter from the top rope and gets a 1 count. Archer is so strong, but Cody starts landing some incredible offense. A crossroads lands, leading to a 2 count. What will it take to stop Archer?
Archer once again climbs and walks the ropes. Behind the ref’s back, Anderson interferes. Another referee comes down and ejects Arn and Jake from ringside. Jake returns with his snake bag. Mike Tyson stops it. Jake is terrified.
The blackout is reversed and two crossroads are hit for the 1-2-3 count to get the win over the Murder Hawk in an incredible match.
