Fyter Fest begins immediately with a title match. Cody Rhodes comes out to the ring with Arn Anderson by his side, ready to take on Sonny Kiss. Kiss comes out to the ring with a bunch of cheerleaders and gives a lively presentation.
Cody starts with a pump kick and is very aggressively and is even taunting the challenger. Is he turning heel? Anderson is not happy with Cody not taking the challenger seriously. Sonny gets some momentum but it doesn’t last long. Cody wears Kiss down with a full nelson.
The awkward offense of Kiss is giving the champion some trouble and the two styles aren’t meshing well inside the ring. Cody can work with just about anyone, but they seem a step off tonight.
Sonny lands the 450 splash and gets a near fall. Cody gets the momentum back, tossing Kiss out of the ring and onto the stage. He picks him up and slams him down again with an Alabama slam, getting a near fall. Cody lands the superplex and gets a near fall. Cody is getting irritated. He is arguing with the referee and not happy.
Remarkably, Rhodes has torn off the turnbuckle padding but gets launched into himself and nearly loses. Arn Anderson is going nuts. After some big hits, Rhodes reverses with his Cross Roads and gets the 3 count to retain the TNT title.
