The Hierophant
A Major Arcana tarot card, The Hierophant in a traditional deck shows a religious man upon his throne while two followers kneel before him.
Principled, spiritually enlightened and driven to live within his own moral compass without a misstep, The Hierophant is an arbiter of customs, traditions and his definition of truth and justice.
Friends, family and acquaintances alike see The Hierophant out whenever a crisis emerges. His approach, knowledge and confidence in relaying advice often provide reassurance and direction to those in need.
Many interpret, The Hierophant as one who is preachy or bound and guided by only religious doctrine. That’s not the case. Though, spirituality whether of a religious nature or not, does influence The Hierophant, he is not closed off. He is rationale, pragmatic and has a grounding in the real world as well as whichever path of enlightenment he is drawn to. Though respected by those who have witnessed his abilities, talents and intuition some on the outside respond with scorn, disbelief and ridicule. This however doesn’t detour The Hierophant and instead just makes him more steadfast in his belief system.
Now is the time to heal yourself using the same techniques, knowledge and talent you use to heal others. You have a bit of unrest within. Whether overworked, overtired, overwhelmed or just over the negative energy others surround you with, you need a meditative sabbatical. You are a teacher by nature and you long to share your wisdom with those who wish to listen. Your instinctive nature to educate and share brings you great joy, but it’s time to take a break.
Focus on you. Continue meditating, praying, or sending thoughts of goodwill to your loved ones, but don’t invite new tales of woes into your life. They have been around you long enough to know what your advice would be given any situation. That’s not what they’re looking for. They want you to fix the problem and know you will. Now is not the time to be custodian to the lives of others. You have to purge some of the negativity that was pushed upon you. You don’t own it, yet try to adopt it. Don’t. No one can handle what you’re taking on, despite the amazing internal powers and wisdom you possess.
Practice what you preach on yourself. Shower in positivity and shield yourself from conflict. You know you have the techniques you need to correct what is going on inside. You just need the will to step away momentarily from being everyone’s salvation.
Take comfort in knowing this isn’t a selfish pursuit. You will be helping others hone their skills in self-sufficiency while also ensuring you are at your A game when someone is in dire need of a listening ear.
