Nothing gets one more excited about a horror movie than seeing the trailer for the first time. Sometimes it’s too see how bizarre or how horrifying the production is. Other times, it’s the fact that a highly revered actor or actress is involved such as Joan Crawford in Berserk.
Celluloid Bloodbath brings forth previews from great old-school horror movies. Everything from the early 80s and before -.from Grindhouse movies few have heard of to big blockbusters like The Exorcist are shown. Not only is it great to see the first trailers for films I’ve seen, but it’s even better to see segments for those I haven’t seen yet. I’m now looking forward to seeing the slashers Eyeball, Carnival of Blood, The Weekend Murders, and The Black Belly of the Tarantula.
There are so many other great trailers in this production. I need to sit with a pen and paper to make a list of the ones I haven’t seen.
The introductions from horror aficionados are also pretty cool. I was especially happy to see the very talented George Stover among the presenters. Stover, best known for the work he did with the late great Don Dohler, is one of my favorite actors; and I am always happy to see him in any production.
It was also great to see Jesse Hess the son of David Hess pay tribute to his father. I had the opportunity to meet David Hess two years ago at Rock N Shock, a horror convention in Worcester MA. He was such a pleasant person to speak with. Though I had a bit of celebrity awe, he was super sweet about it. I walked away with an autograph that I’ll cherish forever.
Overall, Celluloid Bloodbath is definitely worth the watch! It’s on Netflix Instant and most certainly should be viewed by any true horror fan.
