Best Casino & Poker Movies…To Me At Least – Movie News

Geno

By Geno McGahee

I love casinos.  I have several around me and I will frequent them with regularity.  There is a lot of excitement with the lights and overall atmosphere and that sort of feeling has been captured in a few movies that I really enjoy. There’s not a huge amount of movies about the casino or the game of poker that I don’t enjoy.  It’s just such a good time.

There will be films that are not included in this piece and it’s no slight to them.  Classics like CASINO I’ve not seen and other films with that setting I’ve not been as much of a fan of.  When it comes to online gambling, there’s plenty of fun to be had as well. $200 no deposit bonus codes Australia 2022 comes to mind as one of places to bring the casino to your home.

ROUNDERS

Matt Damon, John Malkovich and Ed Norton star in this amazing film about the excitement of Texas Hold’em. Malkovich plays “KGB”, a Russian mobster with a love of Hold’em.  Damon, playing the role of Mike, gets wiped out by KGB and gives up on the game, but the reunion with an old friend, Worm, brings him back to the table.

After a up and down adventure, Mike gets one more shot at the table with the highest stakes possible against KGB with a chance to get his money back or possibly not leave the building at all.  ROUNDERS is about as good an intense as it gets when it comes to a film about poker.

21

Mickey (Kevin Spacey) is a college professor with a side class that he keeps off the radar.  Only his smartest students with a talent for math is brought into his class to master the game of blackjack in Las Vegas.

When it comes to displaying the casino atmosphere and the excitement of the casino, 21 is about as good as it gets.  Kevin Spacey gives a great performance as a villainous professor that gets his in the end.

REINDEER GAMES

Rudy (Ben Affleck) is just out of prison and looking to start his own life, but a chance meeting with Ashley (Charlize Theron) leads to the plan to rob a casino during the Christmas season.

Mixing elements of humor and action together very well, REINDEER GAMES proved to be a good foundation to build on for Ben Affleck as he started his career.  The Christmas feel mixed with the casino fun made the film that much more enjoyable.

FINDER’S FEE

James Earl Jones sits down for a game of poker with millions at stake in this suspense film. When a group of friends put their lottery tickets into the pot as ante, the pot will make the winner rich but not too many know it.

As always, James Earl Jones delivers a memorable performance and there is a cool little twist at the end that I found really enjoyable.

When it comes to casino movies, I’ll watch any that are on because I can’t get enough of the excitement.  As I write this, I feel like getting a poker game going.
