Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin – On Digital & DVD Now – Review

HBO Max’s hit show PRETTY LITTLE LIARS: Original Sin, the complete first series, has been released on digital and now on DVD from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment.  The release includes all 10, one-hour, episodes and a lot of bonus material that will certainly satisfy the fans of the show.

The show was not what I expected and I knew very little about it, but they took a horror and slasher approach, which I thought was really good.  Now this was a reboot of another show that I have not seen.  So this is all new to me and I can’t make any comparisons.

The show is what you might think it would be from the title with gossip and lies sort of driving the plot, but there is some PROM NIGHT mixed in here and each episode bleeds into the next smoothly, making it binge-worthy and continuously interesting.  This is really a high school slasher, presented with a mysterious backstory.

The show does lean into the woke direction, almost excessively.  It’s obvious that the writer had a political point writing this one but it was the only thing that I found to be distracting as I watched this.  A lot of the lines seemed forced and came off as not normal speak, but I still really enjoyed the series and the dark direction it took.

PRETTY LITTLE LIARS: Original Sin was actually pretty good and if you like SCREAM or PROM NIGHT, you will get some of those elements here.  I recommend it.
