Zhilei Zhang, 22-0-1, 17 KO’s, started out incredibly strong against Jerry Forrest, 26-4-1, 20 KO’s, dropping him in the first round with a straight left hand. In the second round, a right hook would put Forrest down again. A combination would put Forrest down in the third round and the referee was close to stopping it, but then the tide changed.
In the fourth round, Forrest found his footing and adjusted to the power and began backing up Zhang. As the rounds went on, it was clear that Forrest was in total command. A point deduction from Zhang in round 9 made it possible for Forrest to win on the cards despite the three knockdowns.
Zhang barely survived round ten and was totally spent. He could barely stand after the final bell rang. He was somewhat exposed tonight.
