AEW put on their latest PPV “FULL GEAR” and knocked it out of the park. They immediately opened the show with the AEW title eliminator tournament finals.
Kenny Omega Defeats Hangman Page – AEW TITLE ELIMINATOR FINALS
The former tag team partners and champions went head to head in a high stakes battle. Both men showed their strong points and there were many near falls with Omega finally avoiding the Buckshot Lariat to get his knees in to take the 3 count win.
Orange Cassidy Defeats John Silver (Dark Order)
John Silver is one of the strongest pound for pound wrestlers in AEW and he showed it in some spots against Cassidy. This match was exactly what you would expect and with the result you’d expect. Silver and Cassidy brought comedy and great action and, in the end, Cassidy won with a Beach Break to get the 3 count.
Darby Allin Defeats Cody Rhodes – TNT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Cody Rhodes can legally use his last name again, which is a great thing. Darby Allin is quickly becoming a huge star and this victory over Cody to take the TNT title will only help that climb. The match was amazing with a Crossroads from the top rope to Allin that nearly ended it. A series of roll ups led to Allin getting the 3 count win and the title. Team Taz would ruin the party and leave Allin lying. I think we can expect the feud to heat up now with gold hanging in the balance.
Hikaru Shida Defeats Nyla Rose – WOMEN’S TITLE MATCH
Shida proved again she was the best in the game, coming at the challenger hard and proving her ability to overcome the odds to take the win. Rose had her moments and it was a great match, but the master of the knee strikes showed them again and it led to the 3 count win.
Young Bucks Defeats FTR – TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH
It was exactly what you wanted and more and well worth the wait. The Young Bucks and FTR not only created a classic, but they paid tribute to the tag teams of the past, including the Steiner Brothers, the Dudley Boys, the Hardy Boys and more. Tully Blanchard was banned from ringside and the two teams had the night of their life and the Bucks were able to pull it out with a super kick to take the 3 count.
Matt Hardy Defeats Sammy Guevara (Inner Circle) – ELITE DELETION MATCH
Broken Matt Hardy and the Hardy Compound return. I’ve missed this very much. This was the madness that I loved so much in IMPACT back in the day and we saw a little bit of everything. Hurricane Helms and Gangrel made cameos and the battle was incredible with Hardy getting the win via chair shot.
MJF Defeats Chris Jericho (Inner Circle)
The heel versus heel match had a lot of funny and good moments. MJF wanted into the Inner Circle and got his moment with the victory. At one point, Jericho was tossed his baseball bat and MJF fell down, pretending that he was hit and nearly got the DQ win. He’d get the 3 count with a roll up and is now, apparently, Inner Circle.
Jon Moxley Defeats Eddie Kingston – HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE I QUIT MATCH
Jon Moxley successfully defended his title in the most brutal match of his career over the game challenger, Eddie Kingston. It involved barbwire and thumbtacks and plenty of blood and gore. Moxley made the tough Kingston quit by using his submission mixed with barbwire around Kingston’s throat. It was the toughest test of Moxley’s career.
