SHOWTIME Sports has released two special features profiling top 154-pound contenders, 2016 Prospect of the Year Erickson Lubin and 2012 U.S. Olympian Terrell Gausha, ahead of their world title eliminator that headlines a three-fight card this Saturday on SHOWTIME (9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT). Both videos are available now on the SHOWTIME Sports YouTube channel.
The features, which are voiced by SHOWTIME host Brian Custer and will appear on Saturday night’s telecast, each focus on the unique journeys of the two contenders who are both seeking world title glory. The Lubin feature looks back at the Orlando native’s path through the super welterweight division from being a rising star, to suffering an early setback at the hands of Jermell Charlo, and his immediate resurgence that now has him in position to challenge for another world title. The Gausha feature provides an in-depth look at the Cleveland native’s career and how his wife and family have played a vital role during his journey.
The SHOWTIME BOXING: SPECIAL EDITION also features Mongolia’s Tugstsogt “King Tug” Nyambayar stepping in to face unbeaten Cobia “Soldier” Breedy in the 10-round featherweight co-main event bout. The telecast opener will see one of the top prospects in boxing, unbeaten welterweight Jaron “Boots” Ennis, squaring off against the Dominican Republic’s Juan Carlos Abreu in a 10-round matchup.
