You know Josh Radnor as Ted Mosby from How I Met Your Mother. Ever since he played that character, he has become a household name. He even appeared as Lonny Flash in Hunters, an Amazon show, and we did see some similarities with Ted. Though Josh Radnor is an incredibly famous name on television for the past decade, he has always tried to keep his personal life away from the scanner.
However, at times, the fans get a glimpse of his life through the interviews and his Instagram. Here, we have come up with a few interesting facts that we have learned about Josh Radnor so far.
Josh was raised in a highly conservative Jew family.
Derrick, who works with TFTH and is a big fan of HIMYM, says that the most astonishing thing that he has read about Josh is that he was born and raised in a Conservative Judaism family. Well, it is true. Josh grew up in Ohio in a traditional Jew background. His mother was a guidance counsellor in high school, and his father was a medical malpractice lawyer.
In his growing up years, he attended the Columbus Torah Academy’s Orthodox Jewish day school. While he was still a teenager, Josh decided that his interests lie in acting. So, he achieved his degree in Arts in drama. He even went on to pursue a Master’s in Fine arts.
He was not the first choice.
Though you cannot imagine any other actor playing Ted Mosby, the fact of the matter is that he was not the first choice for the role. For the producers of the show, the first choice was Felicity’s star, Scott Foley, but he turned down the role, and we got Josh as Ted Mosby.
Nobody would like him as a neighbour.
Yes, it is true that we all loved him as Ted Mosby, but trust us when we say this, you would hate having him as his neighbour. Why? In 2017, Radnor decided to get an extension of his deck constructed. However, what happened was this extension went onto his neighbour’s property, and the two got into a war. The neighbours sued the actor, and they got orders to pull down the desk.
However, what followed after is terrible. The neighbours said that following this incident, Josh became offensive, and would often scream at them. It forced them to get a restraining order against them. Angie, an associate with TAE, who’s a huge Ted Mosby fan, says that yea he’s not the perfect neighbour, but she would do anything to be still living next to him.
When he’s dating, he avoids all spotlight.
When it comes to romantic life, Radnor tries to keep things private. So, he consciously tries to keep all his relationships away from the public eye. His last relationship that we know of publicly was with Minka Kelly.
However, the duo split in 2017, after only a few months of dating. Following that relationship, Josh never really appeared in public with someone. Josh also dated actress Lindsay Price in 2009, but they split up in 2009.
He still has the Blue French Horn.
Nathan, an assignment help provider with EduWorldUSA, says that his favourite scene from the show is still the point where Ted stole the Blue horn and gave it to Robin in the pilot episode. The same horn is seen in the final episode in a very decisive scene (Yes, you know it!). It is believed that Radnor was so moved by the meaning of this Blue Horn in the show. So he asked the makers to allow him to keep the horn.
He doesn’t like spending money unless necessary
Despite being famous, Josh is still living in a $750-a-month sublet from a friend. In an interview, Radnor revealed that he was the last one from the cast of HIMYM to get some courage to buy a house finally. He even said that he would never spend money on something unless he believes in it.
He has a net worth of $30 Million.
Josh has a net worth of $30 million. Though his primary source of income is acting, he is also a filmmaker, musician, and writer. He has also produced and directed some acclaimed and well-received independent films. He’s also been a regular at the theatre. Brian, an employee of TrumpLearning, says that Josh’s most likable thing is that, unlike other celebs, you never see him on fancy travels or buying every other property. Well, it does seem like Josh doesn’t lead a lavish lifestyle.
He made his Broadway debut in 2002
In the stage version of The Graduate, Josh made his Broadway debut. There, he shared the stage with Alicia Silverstone and Kathleen Turner and. The theatre is one of his biggest passions, and it seems that he did stick by it, even after being so successful on the big screen. He also joined the cast of Little Shop of Horrors in 2018 and played the role of Seymour Krelborn.
