On VOD February 4 for its 20th Anniversary, this all too topical film was the directorial debut from multi-award-winning Philadelphia director Rel Dowdell (“Changing the Game”, “Where’s Daddy?”), starring Russell Hornsby (“The Hate You Give”), M. C. Lyte (“Girl’s Trip”) and Wood Harris (Empire), and the final performance from legendary Emmy award winning character actress Esther Rolle (Good Times, Maude), TRAIN RIDE tells the story of a female college freshman whose life is turned upside down when three graduating male seniors decide to experiment with a popular knockout “date rape” drug. Events quickly spiral out of control, leading to a climax that must be seen to be believed. During its initial release the film was ranked as one of the “Best College Movies” on BET.COM, and included in noted film critic/historian Irv Sifkin’s book “Filmadelphia: A Celebration of a City’s Movies”
