The WBC Heavyweight Champion, Tyson Fury, 31-0-1, 22 KO’s, will defend his title against the mandatory challenger, Dillian Whyte, 28-2, 19 KO’s, in one of the richest bouts in boxing history. Frank Warren paid 41 million to make this fight happen with an 80/20 split between champion and challenger. All things considered, it’s a fair split.
In recent weeks, Fury has been pushing for a showdown with UFC Heavyweight Champion, Francis Ngannou, but it didn’t materialize. There were also rumors of a title unification bout with Oleksandr Usyk, but it didn’t happen either. The most likely match has been booked.
Going into the bout, Tyson Fury will be and should be an overwhelming underdog. There aren’t many scenarios where Whyte wins, but this is an all-British heavyweight title fight and it will make money and I suspect Fury knocks Whyte out within five rounds as Usyk repeats against Joshua in knockout fashion and we get an undisputed heavyweight champion by the end of the year…if all goes well.
