Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment has just released THE VENTURE BROS. COMPLETE SERIES on DVD and Digital and it has a lot to offer beyond its cool look. This series became a hit and deserves this release, which I really enjoyed and am happy to add to my collection of DVDs and Blu-rays.
The first thing to note about this series that makes a collector’s item is the presentation with the box set. The artwork is very nice and you have it on the inside and outside of the case and it is just well constructed. There was a lot of thought and love put into this release with a consideration for what the fans would want to see.
Every season is in this set with commentary that makes it that much more interesting. I found the commentary adding a great deal to the experience. I’m not overly familiar with the show but after watching several episodes and then listening to the commentary, I can see where the creators are coming from and why this show is so popular.
There are bonus episodes, deleted scenes and behind the scenes material on this set. A booklet is included on the set with episode listings and descriptions that guide the viewer to the bonus material and where to find it.
The Adult Swim show THE VENTURE BROS. is a mix of older shows, focusing on cartoons from Hanna-Barbera. Despite the nods and elements borrowed, this is an original show and an enjoyable one. The first season builds the structure of the show and it expands as each season goes on. The artwork feels like an older show but it’s got the edge that a new show would have.
If you’re a fan of the show, this is a must own. It looks good on the shelf, it’s got every bell and whistle that a fan would want and it’s an enjoyable program with countless notable characters. I recommend it.
