Lionsgate has just released THE MINUTE YOU WAKE UP DEAD On Demand, Blu-Ray and Digital along with a theatrical release. Featuring Morgan Freeman, this film was definitely worth a watch even if it’s not the best material he’s worked with.
This film is a murder mystery with conspiracy elements and is presented in a noir sort of feel. A big problem with this film is the lack of focus. It builds really well and gets interesting but then there are confessions that don’t make a lot of sense and it gets difficult to stick with.
As the bodies pile up, the big reveal didn’t bring the punch that the director probably intended. There was just something missing here, but the performances by Cole Hauser, Jaimie Alexander and Morgan Freeman brings something good to this.
THE MINUTE YOU WAKE UP DEAD is a mixed bag with some familiar faces, some good intent, but it misses the mark in the end. I still enjoyed it and it had a lot of upside, but with the cast it had, there was potential for it to be much better.
