Lionsgate has just released THE AMITYVILLE MOON On Demand, Digital and DVD, featuring Tuesday Knight of A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 4: THE DREAM MASTER, and it was nice to see her back, but this film isn’t a production that she will be etched into horror history for.
It’s a one location film, more or less, with a group of homeless women and some clergy all held up with the threat looming of a monster that has a taste for blood. The one thing that this film has going for it is the werewolf itself. It’s very cool looking and they went practical. I was sort of concerned about a CGI werewolf, but they did the right thing.
I tried to dig this film, but it’s pretty bad and they pull the entire quick pull thing too many times. I was hoping for a fun factor here because you usually have one when it comes to a big werewolf killing people, but nothing.
THE AMITYVILLE MOON is watchable but forgettable and I was really hoping to like this one. I am a big werewolf fan and this one was just not good. The dialogue between the characters did little to move the story forward and was just there to fill the void. The characters weren’t defined very well.
If you absolutely love werewolves, this is for you. If you like practical effects and movie monsters, you might enjoy this on some level. I just could not get into it and it’s sort of a shame. They had a cool monster but he didn’t have a lot to work with.
