The ‘Ventur’n of Arino Bun-Bun and Other Ramblings

Arino Bun-Bun Garza is my bunny.  I got him last Sunday.  I wasn’t planning on getting a rabbit but sometimes fate intervenes.

It all started when my mom rescued a bunny from a cat on the prowl.  It was very tiny and sadly died the next day.  My nephew and niece had grown attached to the poor baby bunny, so my mother and sister-n-law decided to get another.  They contacted a lady on Craigslist who was selling English Angora bunnies for $10.00.  They don’t grow any larger than 3 lbs.  They stay babies forever!

I had no intention of getting one myself but decided to go for the ride.  There were three rabbits in all.

There was a black and two grays.  My mom took the biggest of the three which my nephew named Rosalina after a Mario Bros character.

The smallest of all three – the runt kept looking at me with the widest sweetest eyes.  I fell in love.  I lifted the bunny up and he cuddled right up to me.  I couldn’t let him go.  He was my bun-bun.

When I brought her home it was in a box.  I told my husband, “lovelove, we got a bunny..”

His first reaction was not to refrain himself from excitement. “We don’t have a bunny..” he said with a boyish crack that told me he was hoping to be wrong.

I opened the box.  “We have a bunny!”  He said knowing that we were now proud parents.

Since, I picked Bun-Bun out, I told Steve to name her.  Thus he became Arino.  Arino is the name of a Japanese TV show host who plays vintage video games.  Steve and I enjoy the show immensely and it seemed fitting for the little one.

I listed Bun-Bun as the middle name.

Arino Bun-Bun is the cutest bunny in all the land and I’m not bias.  He loves to do some ‘ventur’n or adventuring as the average Joe would say.   We let him run up and down our bed and couch but sometimes he wants to go further and when I pick him up, he looks at me as if to say, “Mom, I just want to do some exploring!”

He loves baths, organic salad, the air from fans and air conditioners, and me and Steve.  He nibbles us with love-bites, kisses us a plenty, and rubs his nose to show his proprietary nature towards us.

Steve and I have read everything about angora bunnies…ours will be president and will rule over all the humans.

He tries to go too far right now for a baby bunny.  We watch him so closely but he’s fast – like a bunny.

Owning a baby bunny has made me realize how much I love animals and dislike people.  I’m sick of people swearing in public as though they’re the very unfunny comedian Andrew Dice Clay.

I’m sick of seeing babies at the supermarket at 12 a.m.

I’m sick of people acting as though the idiot in charge of Chick-Fil-A is in charge of everything.  As dumb as his opinion is – he’s entitled to one.

I’m sick of bikers with loud engines and idiots with loud radios.

Every time I’m around a group of people, I end wanting to scream at least once…. Yet amidst animals – it’s all good…at least little animals.  I wish people were more like bunnies.

I love them…and I especially love Arino Bun-Bun Garza.

(Replace the word Ben with Arino Bun-Bun)
