Terrance Crawford, 34-0, 25 KO’s, found the mark in the final round, knocking Jose Benavidez, 27-1, 18 KO’s, down and then out with only seconds remaining, holding onto the WBO welterweight title.
Benavidez came out with a good game plan to control the action from the outside, but Crawford kept on moving and picking his spots, pulling ahead on the scorecards and leaving little doubt that he was going to take home the UD at the end of the night. Crawford had other plans though and went for the kill against an exhausted challenger, scoring another knockout on his impressive ledger.
Unfortunately, ESPN gave airtime to Terrance’s mother, Debra, who was an abusive mother and is now hanging around, clinging onto the bank account of her son. Unfortunately, Terrance supports her despite the treatment he endured at her hands. Let’s hope that next time, ESPN doesn’t talk to her and doesn’t show her apparently drunken reactions during the fight. NOBODY wants to see her.
Crawford can now move on to bigger and better things in a talent-packed welterweight division.
