WBO Welterweight Champion, Terence Crawford, 36-0, 27 KO’s, had a very tough fight with the challenger, Egidijus Kavaliauskas, 21-1-1, 17 KO’s, especially early on. Crawford came out as a southpaw and Kavaliauskas fought patiently, throwing straight right hands in the exchanges to great effect. A straight right hand in the third round would put Crawford down, but the knockdown wasn’t called. It was at that point that Crawford became the monster that we’ve known him to be.
Crawford began pushing Kavaliauskas back and beating him up, walking through his punches and systematically beating him down. In round seven, he would drop Kavaliauskas. He would beat him down more in round eight and then drop Kavaliauskas twice, stopping the game challenger.
Crawford had a tough go but reacted as a true champion would. A great victory for one of the best in boxing.
