Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has just released SUPERNATURAL: THE COMPLETE TENTH SEASON on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD, with all 23 episodes and a lot of fun bonus material. Much like THE VAMPIRE DIARIES and THE ORIGINALS, we are once again digging deep into the darkness with some very cinematic episodes. Immediately, the cinematography is impressive and the locations are characters themselves. I found the locations very interesting and it set the atmosphere immediately.
Dean (Jensen Ackles) and his friend, Crowley (Mark A. Sheppard) are living the fast life with booze and women, while his brother, Sam (Jared Padalecki), has some serious issues. He gets ambushed and held hostage by Cole (Travis Aaron Wade) with the only hope being that Dean turns himself over in exchange. That deal is refused. Dean is also dealing with the fact that he is demonic, although it doesn’t seem to bother him all that much.
We learn that Cole is looking for revenge and allows Sam to escape. Hoping that he can save his brother, Sam tries to convince him to become human again…something that he has no interest in.
Metatron (Curtis Armstrong), the power-hungry angel, is now in prison. He had previously defeated Dean and brought him to the point that he is now stuck in. Metatron’s big plans are explored this season and he remains a force, but as the episodes go by, this becomes a show of brothers and their family battle. Dean, with the Mark of Cain, and Sam with the hope to bring his brother back from the darkness, make this a nearly cat and mouse game in the end. Both Ackles and Padalecki were very good in these roles and especially worked well off of each other.
The series really heats up as Sam and Dean team up to follow a trail of dead bodies and they begin to really reconnect, and when the solution to Dean’s problem is discovered, they open up a can of worms that will impact the entire world.
The SUPERNATURAL: THE COMPLETE TENTH SEASON release by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment was a great way to spend a weekend, especially considered it was raining. It was just the right show for it. The show was really shot in a cinematic way and the actors and actresses really were convincing in the roles they were in. If you like shows like THE VAMPIRE DIARIES and THE ORIGINALS, then this one is right up your alley. Just for the show, I recommend it, but this set comes with plenty of extras to keep you entertained.
With Blu-ray’s unsurpassed picture and sound, Supernatural: The Complete Tenth Season will be released in 1080p Full HD Video with DTS-HD Master Audio for English 5.1.
