In the main event of this week’s AEW DYNAMITE, Cody Rhodes took on a familiar foe, Shawn Spears, in a bout with advancement in the TNT championship tournament hanging in the balance. It’s been 8 months since the two faced off and there was still bad blood and they put on a great and hotly contested match.
In a brutal match that saw Cody being thrown through a table from the ring to the floor, Cody was able to rally well and landed two crossroads on Spears, but he amazingly kicked out. Rhodes would follow up with the figure four and got his shoulders down for the 3 count, advancing in the tournament.
Rhodes is a favorite to take the TNT title, but Lance Archer is going to be the monster he’ll have to get through to make it to the finish line. AEW Dynamite was great tonight and a lot of fun overall.
