The holidays are right around the corner and I have compiled some very cool gift ideas. There are a lot of items that have recently come out and will certainly make the young child or adult gleam with joy when they unwrap them. So, here is the annual SCARED STIFF GIFT GUIDE for 2022.
FOR THE YOUNGSTERS & TEENS
WE BABY BEARS: THE MAGICAL BOX
The original Cartoon Network animated series has come to DVD, with all 20 episodes and some great bonus material from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. Grizz, Panda and Ice Bear go on many journeys and has been a top performing show for Cartoon Network. Both my children, 17 and 12, love this show and I have had the opportunity to watch some of it and enjoyed it as well.
Stacked with 20 episodes from the first season, We Baby Bears: The Magical Box carries a suggested retail price of $19.98 for the DVD ($24.98 in Canada) and is rated TV-Y7. We Baby Bears: The Magical Box is also available to own on Digital via purchase from digital retailers and is streaming on HBO Max.
DC LEAGUE OF SUPER-PETS
The 2022 hit film DC LEAGUE OF SUPER-PETS has been released on Blu-Ray and DVD and is the ideal gift for the kids in your life. Featuring the voice talents of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Kevin Hart, Kate McKinnon and the great Keanu Reeves, this film has stacked the deck and made a film that not only resonated with the people but the critics as well.
The film is funny and action-packed and is one of those movies that trend among youngsters. Loaded with bonus material, this is a great stocking stuffer for the kids in your life.
ED, EDD N EDDY: THE COMPLETE SERIES
For the first time ever, this classic Cartoon Network series is unleashed on DVD, following the lives of three best friends that are dealing with growing up. The 1990’s series pulls no punches and brings that humor that the 90s specialized in. It’s a very funny show that the teenager in your house would love to see under the tree.
Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has just released it and comes with 66 episodes on 10 DVDs. The cover art is great and the overall presentation is sharp and eye-catching.
COURAGE THE COWARDLY DOG: THE COMPLETE SERIES
The strange and fun series COURAGE THE COWARDLY DOG has been released by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. All 52 episodes of the creative show that hit so hard in the 1990s is now available and is another that would be another big hit for any teen that fin ds it under the tree.
The show is silly and there are plenty of strange characters for Courage to encounter along the way, making it fresh and funny every show.
MORTAL KOMBAT LEGENDS: SNOWBLIND
Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has just released MORTAL KOMBAT LEGENDS: SNOW BLIND on 4K Ultra HD combo pack. This action-packed film looks tremendous and the animation and overall feel of the film is really good and checks every box for the fans of Mortal Kombat.
The animated films have more ability to tell the story they want to tell and that is the case here with the no-holds-barred approach, bringing forth all the characters that you’d expect.
MORTAL KOMBAT LEGENDS: SNOW BLIND is a great new chapter in the animated series of films that have been produced. It gives a lot of fan service and this really is for fans that are familiar with the series. It will be greatly appreciated. The animation and action sequences are great and the story is interesting.
AQUA TEEN HUNGER FORCE: THE BAFFLER MEAL COMPLETE COLLECTION
Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has just released the Adult Swim hit “AQUA TEEN HUNGER FORCE: THE BAFFLER MEAL COMPLETE COLLECTION”, featuring all 138 episodes from the 11 seasons. It’s a must own with 30 hours of entertainment and belongs on most holiday gift lists for your teens at home.
The show follows the antics of three fast food roommates alongside their human neighbor. With the intelligent wizard, Frylock, the child-like Meatwad, the selfish milkshake, Master Shake and the sex-crazed sports fan, Carl, this show brings a lot of laughs and unusual situations that are so entertaining.
This is such a funny show and I enjoyed it a lot. My son was familiar with it and loves the show and, after watching it, I can see why he’s so high on it. It’s a great show and you can own it now.
FOR THE ADULTS
E.T. THE EXTRA-TERRESTRIAL 40TH ANNIVERSARY
Now on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-Ray and Digital, E.T. THE EXTRA TERRESTRIAL has been released in its 40th anniversary and it’s a must own. Presented like it’s never been shown before, the Stephen Spielberg classic comes to live with the sound and visuals that you would hope for.
The attention to detail and fan service on this set is amazing with bonus materials that are endless, including never before seen deleted scenes and a new retrospective. Universal Pictures Home Entertainment knocked this one out of the park.
UNIVERSAL CLASSIC MONSTERS: ICONS OF HORROR COLLECTION VOL.2
On 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray and including Digital Code, the classic monsters return in this amazing set that will make dad very happy Christmas morning. Universal Pictures Home Entertainment includes THE MUMMY, THE BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN, PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, and my personal favorite, CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON on this set in a box set that looks good in any collection. There are great extras for each of these films and they have never looked better.
Watching these films, it’s easy to understand why they have stood the test of time and now they are back and better than ever.
TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD: 60TH ANNIVERARY
On 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and with Digital Code, the Gregory Peck classic is back from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. Based on the book, this film captures the times very well and how an African American could not get a fair shake in a case that is so obviously based on a lie. The pressure put on a southern lawyer defending him is also presented and Peck is just incredible in this. I love films from this time and it really doesn’t get better than this.
The amount of bonus features on this set is amazing. This is what a collector’s item is supposed to be. From the amazing restoration and presentation of the film itself to the case and then the bonus features, this is a must own.
ELVIS
Hitting 4K, Blu-ray and DVD, the hit film ELVIS was released from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. Directed by Baz Luhrmann and featuring a great performance by Tom Hanks, ELVIS is the film that the fans of the King were waiting for.
The film covers the life of the King, analyzing his relationships and how he crossed paths with his manager, Colonel Tom Parker, played by Hanks. We also get a good showcase of the times, capturing the essence of Elvis and the era that he owned.
Along with the film, there are tons of great bonus features.
