The 2-time Olympic gold medalist, Savannah Marshall, 7-0, 5 KO’s, gave a very consistent performance, battering the smaller Daniele Bastieri, 2-1, 2 KO’s, over the course of four rounds, before knocking her out in round five.
From the opening bell, Marshall pushed the fight, winning every round. The damage was showing on the face of Bastieri as she bled from the nose and had visible swelling. Marshall would end it with a right hand that dropped her opponent. Bastieri struggled to get up but the referee saw enough and stopped the fight.
