The judges must have filled out their scorecards prior to the fight as Joey Dawejko, 20-7-4, 11 KO’s, won a unanimous decision over the true winner of the fight, Rodney Hernandez, 13-8-2, 4 KO’s, by scores of 96-94 (twice), 98-92.
Dawejko didn’t really do anything as he followed Hernandez around the ring, throwing very little punches. Hernandez did more and seemed to control the fight throughout, winning around 8 out of 10 rounds, but Dawejko was the house fighter and it seems the fix was in or the judges were so disinterested in the fight, which it was boring, that they just went through the motions with the assumption that Dawejko was going to win.
A bad fight and a bad ending. I don’t think Deontay Wilder will be nervous after seeing this one.
