Welterweight Reymond Yanong, 11-5-1, 9 KO’s, was out-boxed for the first two rounds, but came back to dominate in the last four rounds to take the split decision win over Clay Burns, 9-8-2, 4 KO’s, by scores of 56-58, 59-55 and 58-56. It’s hard to imagine Burns winning that fight.
From round three on, the body shots and aggression of Yanong was owning the action and it was really clear that Burns was out of gas and looking for that final bell. He would land some shots in round six, but it wasn’t enough to win the round. Yanong got the rightful win and looked pretty decent doing it.
