Once every 100 years the moon aligns at the perfect angle to appear blue at just the right spot on Earth. That spot is “The Blue Moon Inn”. A small group of people start showing up at the Blue Moon Inn to witness this once a century event, each having their own reasons, a Wicken, a couple of astronomy lovers and a documentary film maker. They soon start to see and hear strange things at the Blue Moon all leading up to a shocking ending!

Ok. I wasn’t shocked, as a matter of fact I could barely get to the ending of the movie. It moved way too slow, to the point where I know I could have gotten up and made myself lunch a couple times without missing any of the story. This story really could have been told in 30 minutes, not the 90+ that it took. I appreciate the fact that someone spent a ton of time using every filter available to them in their editing software to create a feel, but please! If you have no story, you have no watchable movie regardless of how artsy it can be made using special lenses and color correction in post production.

With that being said, it did have some redeeming properties too like the cool little idols that were placed under each guests mattress. They looked almost like a plant root with a small skull attached. Kudos to the prop person. The setting was also very cool. It was some sort of small hotel or bed and breakfast in England. Pretty creepy. The actors were very good too. They have been in other films you may have seen such as “House of Sin” distributed by www.chemicalburn.org and “The Stone”.

The biggest obstacle this movie has is it’s incredibly slow pace. As I watched it I kept saying “OK…OK… I get it! Now move on!”. I have a lot of patience but “Paranormal Haunting tested it to the limit. If you watch it plan on having plenty of microwave popcorn on hand. Even if you don’t eat it, popping it during the movie will kill some time in between scenes.

Children of the Corn Genesis (2011)

Reviewed by Melissa Garza I have always been a fan of the original Children of the Corn. The plot followed young kids who murdered their parents and formed a cult of essentially devil worship and sacrifice. The subsequent sequels were lackluster with the exception of Children of the Corn 666: […]
