In my opinion, good British horror movies of recent are few and far between compared to the, 50s, 60s and 70s when British horror played a major part in the world market, though this one is a little gem, produced by Scottish couple, Arabella Croft, and, Kieran Parker, who apparently remortgaged their house in order to fund the movie and was repaid handsomely having the distribution rights bought by Sony pictures.

The movie was filmed in Scotland, though it is supposed to be based in Eastern Europe.

It begins in a rundown bar somewhere in Eastern Europe, where a scientist and businessman, Hunt, (Julian Wedham) hires a mercenary, ex Royal Marine, D.C (Ray Stevenson). D.C, assembles a crack command of mercenaries who escort Hunt to an old Military bunker in no man’s land, and told it should only take a few days and they are all to be highly paid. Not long after they arrive and have secured the bunker the group are fired upon, though all not sure from who and what.

They soon discover the bunker has secrets, discover rotting bodies and a mysterious man amongst the dead. The mysterious man freaks them out as he never speaks, just has a haunting gaze. And they soon discover a sinister secret regards the mystery man.
They also discover the bunker use to be a Nazi, bunker. The reason for Hunt, being there is he wants to understand how the Nazis created machinery within the bunker that he believes was created to shift reality and for reanimation, and as Hunt seeks more answers, he discovers the Nazis were carrying out sickening experiments on their soldiers during the Second World War, within the bunker, trying to create an ultimate army. He believes the ghost army the Nazis were creating had been created and they were attacking the bunker that they were within.

One by one the mercenaries are attacked and murdered by the Nazi ghost army. Hunt believes their survival depends on the machine that created them and so begins the race against time to discover the secret before the remaining group are murdered.

There are some gruesome scenes within the movie that reminds us of what the Nazis were capable of and was never afraid to carry out and the movie concludes with the possibility of a sequel in which there was.

This is by no means the first Nazi horror movie, though like many before this movie isn’t about, zombies, more supernatural, Nazis, that makes it more threatening and edgy, how do you kill supernatural Nazis? One thing is for sure they were the most feared organisation of the 20th century and more fearful as supernatural beings.

Rating: 7/10
