SYNOPSIS
As a criminal investigator of Jewish descent working in Berlin, Sara Stein was used to operating independently of everyone else. Her keen instincts and sound judgement enabled her to navigate sure-footedly through many sensitive cases. But it was not until she found herself investigating the murder of an Israeli DJ that politics and religion played such an important role in her life. Now, facing new challenges as a detective in Tel Aviv, Sara continues to strive for truth and justice while dreaming of peace for her beloved new home, Israel.
Traversing between continents, SARA STEIN – FROM BERLIN TO TEL AVIV is an internationally-flavored crime series taking home audiences on a thrilling roller coaster ride of justice across four feature-length films:
SHALOM BERLIN, SHALOM TEL AVIV– In this first film of the SARA STEIN series, Sara heads to Berlin to investigate the murder of Tamar, an Israeli DJ and star of the Berlin club scene. While suspicion initially falls on the family of Tamar’s Palestinian boyfriend Khalid, Sara believes there could be more than just a religious or political motive at play.
JEWELS IN THE GRAVE — It’s Chief Inspector Sara Stein’s first case in Tel Aviv. That nobody here has been waiting for her is quickly made clear by her colleagues Shimon Ben Godin and Jakoov Blok. Nevertheless, she is given the assignment to investigate the case, because it is her predecessor Noam Shavit, who’s found dead in his apartment suffocated under a plastic bag. Quick parallels are drawn to a two-year old robbery. But was it really the same killer? Or did Shavit come to terms with the perpetrator and pay for it?
MASADA — At the southern edge of the Dead Sea sits Masada, a significant Israeli symbol. Following an explosion at the site, Chief archeologist Aaron Salzmann is found dead. When Stein and Blok investigate, they discover the deceased is the son of Avram Salzmann, a celebrated archaeologist who was also present at the blast, but survived unscathed. What’s uncovered suggests foul play, but how many clues can Stein ultimately excavate from the rubble before it’s too late?
OLD FRIENDS — In this fourth and final installment of the groundbreaking Sara Stein series, a severed hand discovered on the beach in Tel Aviv is the spark that will links human trafficking, the special forces, and even Sara’s husband. Sara is tasked to investigate and unwind this vast criminal conspiracy.
