I’m a big fan of the paranormal stuff, mostly. The ghost hunters have been overdone on TV, but I find their work rather compelling. The same goes for the Bigfoot seekers. Every time there is a new blurry video of the hairy man-ape walking slowly through the woods, I’m eager to see it and hope that it’s legitimate evidence that the mighty Sasquatch exists. Tea Krulos has taken a very unique approach to these topics as well as UFOs, sea monsters and more, in his book: MONSTER HUNTERS: ON THE TRAIL WITH GHOST HUNTERS, BIGFOOTERS, UFOLOGISTS, AND OTHER PARANORMAL INVESTIGATORS.
This book isn’t meant to prove or disprove the existence of these debatable things. Rather, it’s a case study of the people involved, the methods they use, and the community that they belong to. What sort of person rises above the public ridicule to pursue hunting spirits, aliens or Bigfoot? We find out here and I really enjoyed the angle that Krulos used here.
We are introduced to some ghost hunters that seek white noise and other pieces of evidence to support their contention that the other side is there and does communicate. Krulos learns the ropes and goes on the adventure with the hope that something would happen and that he would get to learn the people involved more. We get a great window into the reasons why these investigations happen, why these groups form, and why they believe there is something more to this world. The people documented are as interesting as what they research.
Champ, the sea monster, and the researchers show Krulos the hunt, but also show the ridicule as a police officer laughs at the idea of a sea monster living in the lake. They do the scans and several witnesses are interviewed and it is interesting. At points, some of the witnesses in this book seem a little bit off, but others that have the courage to come forward, are very compelling. That holds true throughout this book.
UFOs and the connection to the Sasquatch are discussed and most amusing was the infighting within the Bigfoot community. The rivalries, different theories, and approaches are examined and I found it all very interesting. There is no unity when it comes to seeking Sasquatch. It’s kind of sad.
MONSTER HUNTERS: ON THE TRAIL WITH GHOST HUNTERS, BIGFOOTERS, UFOLOGISTS, AND OTHER PARANORMAL INVESTIGATORS is a great read for anyone that has any interest in the paranormal. If you’re a believer or a skeptic, you will find joy in this book. Krulos paints a great picture and it plays out like a documentary. The picture is painted so well that you are brought there and you can see those involved. I was really impressed with how well-written this was. I really liked it and highly recommend it.
