Monster From Green Hell (1957): Restored in 4K Transfer – BLU-RAY SCI-FI MOVIE REVIEW

The 1950s was a great time for sci-fi monster movies and it’s great to see that some of them are returning in a great way.  Film Detective has brought back a relatively obscure gem: MONSTER FROM GREEN HELL in a new 4K transfer.

A space shuttle test leads to radiation issues that bring forth some huge killer wasps unleashed in Africa.  This is exactly what you would expect from a low budget sci-fi film from this time, but I feel that they were pretty innovative with the special effects and the usage of stock footage was placed in sparingly and well.

American scientists arrive and the film really kicks into gear as they try to solve the problem of these killer wasps and you get a lot of bang for your buck on this one.   In a lot of these 50’s sci-fi monster movies, you don’t get a lot of the monster, but you get a good amount here.

The presentation in 4K is really good.  It’s an amazing restoration job they’ve managed to put out here and they’ve added some fun bonus material here as well.  This is the collector’s version of this film.

MONSTER FROM GREEN HELL on Blu-ray has just been released and it’s one of those items that you have to pick up while they last.  I found this film and presentation very enjoyable.  If you enjoy sci-fi monster movies from the fifties, this is a must own. I highly recommend it.
