It is Christmas time and the adult coloring books have become a hot item. Everywhere you go, you stumble across a section where they have these coloring books geared for grownups. I’m a grownup and I agree that coloring is for all ages. Of course, as a horror guy, finding the right book is a difficult thing, but one magically appeared this year and I guess we can call it a Christmas miracle. Mister Sam Shearon’s Creepy Christmas – A Merry Macabre Coloring Book is now available and it is everything that a horror fan would want and a little bit more.
The book features 40 hand-drawn illustrations that surround the season. We have Krampus, of course, and he is riding a wave of popularity recently. People love Krampus. We also have Wendigo, a character that probably doesn’t get enough press. I suspect we will see him comeback to the mainstream, but for now, we get to see him again in this book.
The Yule Cat, the Abominable Snowman, Rabid Rudolph and the Grimace Tree are others that you’ll find in this and I have to say that the artwork is simply amazing. This is not a book that was put together quickly. There was plenty of effort put into this to make sure that it will be a most welcomed gift under the tree. I would call it a stocking stuffer, but the book is rather large. I would say that it’s actually larger than most coloring books and that means more coloring time. It gives you a reason to get away from that cell phone and computer. Start coloring!
The book is 166 pages with a mixture of images and story-telling poems, relating to the images you see. For $13.99, this is a deal that is difficult to beat. If you are a horror fan, this is a must own. If you are not a horror fan and know one, you just found the gift for them. If you have a nephew that wears all black clothing, listens to weird music, and gets mad at you every year when you present them with a football, you finally found the gift to win them over. This is a really cool book.
I highly recommend this. I am happy to be doodling again. It got me away from that cell phone. Take that cell phone.
