Now campaigning at welterweight, Maurice “Mighty Mo” Hooker, 27-1-3, 18 KO’s, had no issue at all stopping late sub, Uriel Perez, 19-5, 17 KO’s, in the very first round. A right hand behind the ear hurt Perez and a barrage put him down. He would rise up at the count of nine, but would tell the referee that he could not continue.
The most telling shot was a right hand to the body from Hooker. When Perez got up, he was holding his side, possibly suffering from broken ribs from the power-punching Hooker. It was a great comeback fight after his first loss and he looked good at welterweight. There is a lot of money and great fights in this division and Hooker can certainly fit into the picture and make some noise.
