One of the best and most underrated franchises in horror history is the MANIAC COP series.  Blue Underground has just released MANIAC COP 2 and MANIAC COP 3 on 4K UHD + Blu-ray and it could not be done better.  These films are finally presented the way that they should be.

Beginning with the artwork and case, both MANIAC COP 2 and MANIAC COP 3 are created for horror collectors.  The cardboard case that goes around the disc case is very sharp and has a neat texture that I haven’t seen done in a long time.

The video is restored on both and looks tremendous but keeps the grit that we have come to love. The audio is also great, making this as good of an experience with a killer cop that you can have.  Blue Underground also puts plenty of work into giving tons of bonus material for each film.

MANIAC COP 2 picks up right where the original leaves off with the two detectives, Teresa (Laurene Landon) and Jack (Bruce Campbell), trying to explain how the dead killer cop, Cordell (Robert Z’Dar) is back.  Despite the psychologist Susan (Claudia Christian) not being convinced, Cordell is back to his old ways and is on a killing spree.  This film has such a fun factor and it takes place in New York City.  How can you beat that?  One scene where Cordell invades the police station is one of the most memorable and hilariously awesome in horror history.   You cannot do better than this film.

MANIAC COP 3 picks up where the second leaves off and through the power of the occult, Cordell is back again and they stepped it up.  This is another fun popcorn movie where they decided to give the viewer a lot to love.  There is something awesome about seeing Cordell attacking while engulfed in flames.   These two films need to be watched back to back.  That’s what I did.  I love MANIAC COP.

Blue Underground has answered the call and put out MANIAC COP 2 and 3 in the best possible way, giving the best audio/video presentation in a collector’s version that I consider a must own for any horror fan or any fan of MANIAC COP.  This is an amazing release.
