The “Murder Hawk” Lance Archer taking on his biggest opponent thus far, Dustin Rhodes, in a semi-final match in the TNT championship tournament is the main event of AEW Dynamite. Archer made an immediate statement beating up a random AEW production employee.
Archer’s strength is immediate apparent as he blocks almost every move Dustin tries. Archer is so dominant and imposing in the ring. With Jake “The Snake” Roberts as his advisor, he is a big force in pro wrestling.
Dustin could not get any momentum going. Jericho compared Archer to Michael Myers of the HALLOWEEN franchise and it’s appropriate. He will not stay down and is barely affected by any incoming offense.
Dustin finally got his offense going, landing the cross-roads, but Archer kicked out at 1, amazingly. Dustin went to the top rope and jumped, but got caught with a choke slam, leading to a 2 count. Archer walked the entire top rope and then moonsaulted off them to land on Dustin. It was incredible.
Archer ripped the turnbuckle cover off and kept ramming Dustin’s head into it. It was brutal. Cody came down to the ring with a towel in his hand, but didn’t throw it in, leading to a devastating destruction of Dustin and the 1-2-3 for Archer. This is ROCKY IV stuff. I also loved how Britt Baker had something to say about the Rhodes family after the match. It was hilarious. GREAT show tonight.
