Lakeshore Records will release THE OTHER SIDE OF THE DOOR – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack digitally on March 4 and on CD April 8, 2016. The album features original music composed by composer Joseph Bishara (THE VATICAN TAPES, INSIDIOUS).

“The film had its needs grounded in a deep sense of loss, which translated into the musical motives that drive the journey not only into India, but into the supernatural worlds that open up the possibility of facing that loss, as well as creating the opportunity for a potential loss even greater,” said Bishara

A family lives an idyllic existence abroad until a tragic accident takes the life of their young son. The inconsolable mother learns of an ancient ritual that will bring him back to say a final goodbye. She travels to an ancient temple, where a door serves as a mysterious portal between two worlds. But when she disobeys a sacred warning to never open that door, she upsets the balance between life and death. THE OTHER SIDE OF THE DOOR is directed by Johannes Roberts, written by Johannes Roberts and Ernest Riera, and produced by Alexandre Aja, Rory Aitken, and Ben Pugh. The film stars Sarah Wayne Callies and Jeremy Sisto.

“The flavor of the film is location specific with it all taking place in and around India,” Bishara described. “This led to the use of figures written for the sarangi and soulful vocal wailings, as well as a string and wind ensemble. The energies behind the score were also inspired by the mythologies of a place which can facilitate communication with the dead.”

Joseph Bishara is a composer and music producer who combines a range of elements and approaches for the unique and dark aesthetic of his work. He won the Fangoria Chainsaw Award for Best Score for Insidious, and again collaborated with director James Wan to compose the scores for The Conjuring and Insidious: Chapter 2, then later with Leigh Whannell for Insidious: Chapter 3. Fans of Insidious have not only heard his work but have also seen him materialize on-screen, as the Lipstick-Face Demon. He appeared in The Conjuring as the nightmarish witch Bathsheba; and in Annabelle, directed by John Leonetti and for which Mr. Bishara also composed the score, as the Demonic Figure.

Among the other features that he has scored are Adam Gierasch’s Autopsy and Night of the Demons; Scott Stewart’s Dark Skies; Mike Mendez’s The Gravedancers; and Darren Lynn Bousman’s 11-11-11. Also for the latter director, Mr. Bishara produced the soundtracks of the cult films Repo! The Genetic Opera, The Devil’s Carnival. He began his career as the guitarist and keyboardist for the L.A. industrial metal band Drown, segueing to soundtrack work on Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, Heavy Metal 2000, and John Carpenter’s Ghosts of Mars. Mr. Bishara has also contributed to remixes for many notable artists including Marilyn Manson, Nine Inch Nails, Danzig, and Christian Death; and programming and production work for such artists as Jane’s Addiction, Bauhaus, Megadeth, Rasputina, 16Volt, and Prong.
