Highly regarded light heavyweight, Karol Itauma, 9-1, 7 KO’s, stepped up his opposition and paid dearly for it when he was knocked out in five rounds by heavy underdog, Ezequiel Maderna, 29-10, 19 KO’s.
From the opening round, Maderna was landing his straight right hand on the aggressive southpaw with regularity. In the first round, Itauma’s face was red from the damage. The trend continued and there were no answers for the prospect.
In round four, Maderna became the aggressor and stunned Itauma. In the fifth round, a right hand would send Itauma down and he refused to get up. He was exposed and defeated by the boxing veteran tonight and all the talk leading up to the fight calling Itauma as the next ruler of the division can be disregarded.
