JW Marriott’s TWO BELLMEN Releases Companion Soundtrack Album to Movie – MUSIC NEWS

JW Marriott’s TWO BELLMEN, the first short film from the Marriott’s Content Studio—which bowed last month and has since racked up more than five million YouTube views—will now have a companion soundtrack album, the Studio announced today. Marriott’s Content Studio is set to release a twelve-song soundtrack album of music from and inspired by the film, including tunes from its production partner, the Substance Over Hype music family. The compilation includes songs by (in alphabetical order): Amp Live; D Rae; Fingazz; Inspired Flight; Jah Free; Lisa Simmons; Malakai; Scarub; Stone; and Zion I. Featured artists include: Anya; Dirty Cello; Eric Rachmany; Fingazz; Malakai and Prof.

On April 15, fans can purchase from iTunes https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/two-bellmen-soundtrack/id983787740 , Amazon Music and find on numerous other music services, including, YouTube Music Key; Spotify; Google Play; Rhapsody, and Shazam.

The album is a genre-bending mash-up of musical styles ranging from hip-hop to acid jazz to dance to downtempo to R&B and even classical, and includes a re-work of the Bill Withers classic hit “Lovely Day.” The first single, “Queens and Kings,” is by TWO BELLMEN director Daniel “Malakai” Cabrera and is an homage to the so-called “Queens and Kings” of music, dance, parkour, martial arts and extreme sports collective Substance Over Hype—many of whom appear in TWO BELLMEN.  That song features a brand-new original music video directed by Malakai and Mike Diva—the “Mario Shopping Karts Edition”—inspired by the current blockbuster film FURIOUS 7: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iH-nRDR1CWA&spfreload=10

The compilation was executive produced by David Beebe, Marriott’s Vice President, Creative and Content Marketing, and produced by Substance Over Hype’s Daniel “Malakai” Cabrera, while the producers of the album’s original content and arrangements are John “Fingazz” Stary and Malakai.  Other original production is by Fingazz.

“This album continues the celebration that is TWO BELLMEN,” says Malakai.  “Music is so important to the film and the film brings the music alive.  It’s great to be working at a time where innovative young creators and artists have the opportunity to work alongside brands like Marriott that ‘get it.’   We’re so proud to have the contributions of all these artists in support of our movie, and if viewers leave the JW Marriott, the theater, or YouTube humming a song or two, they’ll definitely be some of these.”

Songs come from all over the musical spectrum: some evoke the jazz/EDM spirit of the Verve remix series; some are contemporary riffs of classical arrangements; and some are mélanges of raps, dance beats and pop choruses.  All provide a sonic backdrop to the JW Marriott Los Angeles L.A. Live, the locus in quo of the first TWO BELLMEN film and a character in the film itself.

The soundtrack brings Marriott’s Content Studio further into new territory: music production. “Music helps set the tone for any film,” said David Beebe, “and TWO BELLMEN is no different. Malakai and his team have done a great job of adding a sophisticated touch to the film as a subtle and vital accompaniment to the JW Marriott hotel experience.”

Reaction to the TWO BELLMEN film has been overwhelmingly positive, with more than five million views and a 97% “thumbs up” rating on You Tube.

The album drops on April 15th during MIP-TV, where Marriott is being honored as brand of the year with TWO BELLMEN as the centerpiece.  MIPTV 2015 will host the Brand of the Year Award for the 5th edition, reflecting how video marketing and branded entertainment have become an integral part of brands’ strategies and an opportunity for the entertainment business. Karin Timpone, Marriott International’s Global Marketing Officer, and Beebe will give a keynote presentation during the conference, featuring Malakai and members of the creative teams behind Marriott’s other recently announced production partnerships.  Finally, Marriott has just announced the upcoming release of its second short film, FRENCH KISS, an international romance set at the Paris Marriott Champs-Elysées and featuring Tyler Ritter (The McCarthys) and French actress and model Margot Luciarte in the lead roles.
