Julio Cesar Chavez, JR., 50-3-1, 32 KO’s, has just pulled out of Saturday’s fight with Alfredo Angulo, 24-7, 20 KO’s. It is another example of the lack of discipline of the fighter that rose to prominence on the name of is legendary father, but also proved to have some talent himself.
If Chavez JR wasn’t ready for Angulo, he obviously wasn’t ready for anyone. Angulo was a good fighter, but he is well beyond his better days. He is 2-5 in his last seven fights. His two wins were over career losers. A fit Chavez JR would have probably cruised to a decision win, but this is not a fight Chavez JR. This is a fighter that has been greatly spoiled by his relationship with his dad and has disrespected the sport on several occasions. This is another example.
I don’t know how many more chances JCC JR deserves, if any at all.
