Josesito Lopez, 37-9, 20 KO’s, came out guns blazing in the first round, knocking down John Molina, JR., 30-9, 24 KO’s, in the first thirty seconds of round one from a strong right cross. He got up. A left hook to the body would drop him late in the round and he would struggle to his feet at nine.
Lopez dominated the fight with his superior boxing skills, but there was still the danger there with the power of Molina, JR. The problem for Molina, JR., was the strong chin and durability of Lopez. He was not going to be knocked out by one of those winging shots.
In the seventh round, a barrage of punches would put Molina, JR., down again. At the end of the round a cracking right hand would send the message home. The doctor wanted to stop the fight but the corner begged for one more round. It was granted with the stipulation that if one more big shot landed the fight would be over. In round 8, it would happen. A barrage of shots from Lopez would convince the referee to end it. It was a good win for the spoiler, Lopez.
