Eddie Kingston has the ability to select the opponent for AEW champion, Jon Moxley, for tonight’s show. Kingston comes to the ring and he’s great behind the mic. He brings in the referee from last week’s match that stopped it when he went for the title against Moxley. Kingston and the Lucha Bros. are about to beat down the ref, but Moxley runs to the ring.
The Butcher comes into the ring and starts putting on the punishment to the champion. The strength of the Butcher is dictating the match initially and Moxley is taking a beating. He may not be 100% considering he went to battle with Kingston last week.
Moxley is hurt but he regains control, ramming the Butcher into the railing outside of the ring. Moxley’s leg is badly injured and the Butcher is getting a lot of near falls. After a along assault by the Butcher, a paradigm shift followed by a choke out leads to a successful defense of the world title.
