On July 27th, JOEY & ELLA: A KANGAROO TAIL is released on digital and DVD from Lionsgate and it is a family adventure that borrows a little from HOME ALONE but it stands out as a unique movie that will entertain children. My daughter is 11 and she found the movie amusing and fun.
Ella (Jennifer Michele) meets up with Joey, a kangaroo that comes across a magical gem that brings many special abilities and a few bad guys that desperately want to acquire it and make a fortune. This leads to the police involvement joining the chase and Ella doing everything in her power to protect her new friend.
As the chase continues, Ella meets up with Luke (Jude Manley) and Joey continues to grow and get smarter, leading to many encounters with the bumbling bad guys that can be pretty amusing at times. This film is definitely geared towards children but there is enough for an adult to enjoy with the slapstick humor and overall approach.
JOEY & ELLA: A KANGAROO TAIL is a family movie and it does a good job at following the formula set up by HOME ALONE but adding its own spin. The CGI wasn’t bad, all things considered, and the characters are pretty well developed. I recommend it especially if you have children. They will really like it.
