Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller, 22-0-1, 19 KO’s, is being positioned to challenge for the heavyweight title, and they are taking it slow. The pummeling of the much smaller and older Tomasz Adamek didn’t do much to prove that Miller belongs in the ring with Anthony Joshua or Deontay Wilder, but at least he looked good beating up an old small guy. His latest fight that is for a handful of minor titles is against Bogdan Dinu, 18-0, 14 KO’s, the #9 ranked heavyweight in the estimation of the WBA…and only the WBA.

Dinu’s record does not justify a ranking in the top 20, let alone the top 10. His recent track record includes a Marcelo Nascimento, a fighter with a record of 18-15 and who had lost four of his last five. Irakli Gvenetadze had only five fights and now currently has a record of 6 wins, 11 losses. Davit Gorgiladze was 2-1 when he stepped into the ring with Dinu and is now 7-15, losing 14 of them by knockout. Marino Goles was 20-5 before losing to Dinu, but he never recorded a win over any fighter of remote note. Dinu’s entire record is based on victories over mediocrities and now he’s stepping into the ring with one of the best big men in the division.

Just because Dinu hasn’t fought anyone doesn’t mean that he can’t fight and doesn’t belong, but after watching a few of his fights on YouTube, I’m less than optimistic that we are going to see more than a couple rounds of pummeling before Dinu hits the floor. Dinu is slow and relatively easy to hit. He moves a little and will try to use that but Miller’s size and strength is going to be hard to overcome and he trudges forward and bullies Dinu around the ring.

Look for easy work for Miller. This is a smart fight for Big Baby. He’s going to destroy a top 10 fighter as he awaits the winner of Wilder-Fury or for Anthony Joshua. The fight is on DAZN tonight and, if nothing else, we can watch with the hope that Dinu is better than we hope he is and will put up a fight
