Viva will release the animated murder mystery Inspector Sun and the Curse of the Black Widow in U.S. theaters on Friday, October 13.
With shades of Murder on the Orient Express, the animated mystery unfolds in the glamorous travel age of the 1930s, on a seaplane en route from Shanghai to San Francisco. The PG-rated film was directed by Julio Soto Gúrpide (Deep) from a screenplay by Rocco Pucillo who won the 2013 Samuel Goldwyn Writing Award for the script.
Featuring the voice of Ronny Chieng (M3gan, Crazy Rich Asians) as the titular inspector, the film follows a spider detective who boards a seaplane to San Francisco when a murder on his flight draws him into a plot that threatens both the human and bug worlds.
Inspector Sun and the Curse of the Black Widow is currently screening at the 2023 Annecy International Animation Film Festival.
