The porn industry is one of the biggest, if not the biggest, business in the world. The glossy adult film stars have been replaced by the amateur women that have been drawn to the money of the game. That is the topic of the Netflix documentary “HOT GIRLS WANTED”. Directed by Jill Bauer and Ronna Gradus, the film explores just how these films get made, the people involved and what it means for them.
The porn business has flourished with these very young girls taking up the business and hooking up with a “talent agent” like Riley. A 23-year-old, self-described “former loser”, now resides in his own home in Miami Beach. He is the man that is working as a scout, bringing these eager women into the underground world of porn and making a great deal of money in the process.
The girls that are attracted to the business aren’t what many may think. The old excuse that they are “paying their way through college” may be more than just a story. The shame of being part of a business like this has started to evaporate as most concede that everyone explores this world and it isn’t as taboo as it once was.
Tressa, 19, had dreams of being a cheerleader, but found an ad, which led to her to an occupation that she never considered, but it worked for her, and she found that the live webcam shows and adult videos were money-makers and were paving the way to her future. In one of her webcam shows, you see the diversity in the viewers.
With social media, the newest editions to the adult industry utilize the medium to gain and maintain a following. Considering the age of these amateur stars, social media is something that they are very familiar with and are able reach millions in a very short period of time.
The film focuses on the positive and the negative of this business. There is great insight from several veterans of the field, noting the short run that most girls have in porn and what it means for the families and partners that they have at home.
HOT GIRLS WANTED is a great look at the industry where young girls enter the world of amateur porn and what it means all around. It shows the characters that they encounter in the business and the good and the bad that exists within it.
